Have you ever wondered who you should contact first when contemplating a residential renovation – the architectural designer or the general contractor?
Typically, the architectural designer comes first in the process of planning and constructing a renovation. Here’s the general sequence:
- Architectural Designer: responsible for creating the initial design and plans for the building. The architectural designer works with the client to understand their needs and vision, develop conceptual designs, and produce detailed architectural drawings and specifications. Their work forms the foundation for the entire project.
- General Contractor: brought on board once the architectural design and plans are complete. The contractor is responsible for managing the construction process, including hiring subcontractors, scheduling, budgeting, and ensuring that the project adheres to the architectural plans and specifications.
This sequence ensures that the construction has a clear and well-defined plan to follow, which helps to efficiently and effectively achieve the desired outcome.
