JOY Hair Studio is the very first North Vancouver hair salon created with a purely philanthropic intent. Partial proceeds from all hair services are donated to various community initiatives and charities. We also support various private fundraising efforts to benefit local families in need. We take pride in having created a non pretentious, uplifting and comfortable environment where we do our very best to provide amazing service, connect and build long-term relationships with our clients. Are you ready to rent a chair and run your own business? We have 1 chair available in our boutique salon in the newly renovated Lonsdale Quay (North Van). The Quay is a transit hub and located in the happenin` Shipyards District (night market, farmer`s market, breweries, pubs, donut shops galore...) and there is a new King Taps (Cactus Club), Strathcona Brewing, Dance studio, and Oxygen Yoga coming soon. Plus a liquor primary lounge with open mic nights etc, new food hall and a Michelin star Italian restaurant. There is LOTS of new marketing opportunities for someone looking to grow their business.
We pay EI (contrary to what some believe to be true, this IS a CRA requirement for barbers and hairdressers), we have a benefits program that you can choose to jump onto (medical, dental, life insurance), we have a mature team who all work together, we will help support you in any way we can and we take our renters out for team building days and give gifts/bonuses because we appreciate them choosing us as their home base. The salon is clean, modern, well maintained, and all the equipment/furnishings are almost new.

What an incredible email to receive!
It’s been two weeks since our April community dinner and we wanted to extend a HUGE thank you to you and JOY for your donation & support.
We made a meal of red Thai curry and rice, bread, salad, and mango loaf with ice cream. The meal was a huge hit. Your gift card meant we were able to buy the supplies for salad, dessert, and some ingredients for our main course — your $100 meant we were able to fill in the gaps, and get very creative with the physical food donations received from the Harvest project (We received 8 bags of dried mango — what do we do with that!? Haha).
Between those who attended the dinner, and those at the Lookout society where we brought our leftovers to, we were able to serve meals to 110 people, including providing second helpings and even thirds. This has been our biggest outreach yet. We’ve attached some photos so you can see some of the behind the scenes of the evening :)
***We will be donating gift cards for May and June grocery purchases for these community dinners as well. Thank you for your continued support of JOY and those who need a helping hand***

Brow tinting can cover white hairs and help to give a fuller looking brow if you have light hair. We even have a TO GO kit to continue touching up your brows at home!

We have a new keratin treatment!
This is Tara`s most favourite treatment, but it was hard to get for a while as it comes from the UK. We`ve decided to go back to FABRIQ Keratin (previously KeraStraight) in our efforts to eliminate products from the US (#tarrifs 🙄).
So here we are with this fabulous product on hand, completely customizable to help replair damaged hair, eliminate frizz, relax unruly kinky and curls and add INCREDIBLE shine (as pictured above). This treatment lasts about 4 months with proper care.
